Quinn’s January Park Round-Up

We started earlier this year for park adventures. In 2020, we found parks would add even more enjoyment through a tough year, but took until February 29th to visit our first park of the year. In January Quinn visited 3 National Park Service (NPS) units. She had adventures to Shenandoah National Park and a small stretch of the Appalachian Trail. The third unit was at Catoctin Mountain Park to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Here are some snaps from our trip to Shenandoah National Park that occurred on January 9th. We did two summit hikes on a cold day that saw temperatures in the mid-20s (wind chill probably in the mid-teens). A new hike brought us to Mount Marshall and we did our favorite, Bearfence Mountain! After our two hikes, we stayed to watch the sunset. It was a great day!

We celebrated MLK Day with a winter hike at Catoctin Mountain Park. Meghan, Quinn, and I took to a new trail that led us to Wolf Rock and Chimney Rock. Temperatures in the low low thirties. We had a great hike and got to see new spots at one of our favorite parks. Looking forward to coming back to this trail in the spring!
